Elyse is a birth and postpartum doula who has supported epidural births, unmedicated births, single parents, queer parents, high risk pregnancies, IVF pregnancies, and more. She believes that there are no “good” or “bad” interventions, but that all patients are entitled to know the risks, benefits, and alternatives so they can give full informed consent. She has seen people have the same type of birth on paper, but walk away feeling differently about it depending on if their autonomy was respected. Therefore, Elyse doesn’t have a one-size-fits-all approach to her work, and focuses on developing a rapport with her clients so she can properly understand their needs.

Elyse believes that all birthing people, regardless of body type, gender, sexuality, race, and disability status, are entitled to dignified perinatal care that emphasizes informed consent and autonomy. In her spare time she likes knitting and birdwatching, and is currently taking biology classes through CUNY.

  • “Elyse provided our family with amazing support as we approached delivery of our daughter and in the early postpartum weeks. Her presence is warm, attentive, and thoughtful. I highly recommend her for postpartum support!”

  • “Elyse is knowledgeable, resourceful, and a gifted listener. She helped me process some really difficult emotions following my complicated unplanned cesarean. She even met me in the postpartum rooms of the hospital to help with breastfeeding the day after delivery. The house always felt a little brighter after she left. It was like having a friend around - who also knew about breastfeeding, postpartum healing, and caring for a baby. I highly recommend her services!”

  • "I had a LONG labor at 24+ hours that resulted in a c-section and Elyse was a steady hand and informed presence through the entire experience. She was extremely responsive to my preferences and engaged thoughtfully where I had anxieties and concerns. She kept us distracted with great conversation during the long hours (very important for my husband) and was a trusted sounding board at the various decision points. She also gives fantastic massages, which ended up being a major comfort to me through the process. I'm extremely grateful for her expertise, kindness, and support."

  • "My husband and I had a particularly difficult and traumatic birth. My father-in-law went into the hospital with leukemia 8 days before my son's birth and died when he was 2 and a half weeks old. Just having Elyse there to listen when she came for postpartum visits was invaluable, and as silly as this sounds, I asked her to help me bake zucchini bread at one of her visists as the CSA veggies in my fridge that were going bad were taking up so much mental space for me. We ate those 3 breads for 2 weeks (one went in the freezer). I know it sounds like a little thing but it meant a lot. "

  • "Elyse was present for the birth of my son, and was an invaluable resource during the final few weeks of doctors visits and as I went into early labor. It was so helpful to have someone advise when it made sense to go to the hospital since labor normally progresses at night when you’re only able to reach a doctor on call. During labor, Elyse was attentive and proactive on discussing positions that would alleviate discomfort. I had an epidural but I also had previous hip injury, so Elyse helped with the pain management and mitigation. She worked well with the nurses and doctors, and also helped relieve my husband so he could stay well rested and ready for delivery and post care."

  • "Elyse‘s calm and reassuring presence made her an essential member of my birthing support team. She is grounded in current data informed practices and shared different options and resources based on my preferences. She fully supported and helped me advocate my choices to the medical staff at the hospital of allowing me to be mobile during labor, getting an epidural in a timely manner, answering any questions I had, and reassuring me when there were hiccups. My labor and delivery was a little different than how I had anticipated but at no moment did I feel too overwhelmed or upset by how things were going. This was due to the support I felt from Elyse. She was there when I needed her and my partner and I are so grateful she was with us during this amazingly intense and immense moment of our lives."
