All postpartum journeys are unique. It’s not a one size fits all experience. Rachel sees her role as to support and nurture birthing people’s own choices and curiosity as they explore the 4th trimester – walking alongside them as they uncover their own practices, rituals and rhythms. Whether it’s the first, second or 6th baby, an extra set of hands, knowledge and lots of compassion can help create calm and confidence allowing the parent(s) to mindfully process the experience. She firmly believes that this is the time where laying the foundations of mental and physical health and wellbeing should be honored. Rachel is passionate and committed to supporting families of all genders, race, orientation, and personal philosophies.
Along with supporting families, Rachel finds happiness in experimenting with fermenting food and drinks, learning about native and local plants in herbalism and creating art with her 7-year-old. Her newest project is beekeeping with her local community garden!
“Rachel visited us a few days after birth and I remember her presence to be so appeasing. Her soft voice, her gentle manners, her very supportive words and reassurance that we were doing great were a bright light in the tornado that these first few weeks are. I am breastfeeding and she ensured my baby was latching on properly and eating enough and also helped me identifying hunger cues. She also assisted us in giving our daughter her first bath. 5 months later we reached out to Rachel again because we were having troubles introducing a bottle (our baby was starting daycare) and I was worried about my milk supply as I was not pumping much. I felt calm and relaxed as soon as Rachel walked in. We spent 3 hours together and during that time I pumped more than I ever had and my husband was able to give our daughter a bottle! I am so grateful we met her!”
