Heidi, Jolan & Kate
Heidi
Heidi offers birth, postpartum, and lactation counseling doula services. She will help you better understand complex medical systems, advocate for yourself, and navigate your birth and postpartum journey with courage. Having trained with Birthing Advocacy, a Black-owned, queer-run organization that centers anti-oppression and reproductive justice for all people, Heidi approaches birth work through an affirming and trauma-informed lens. She will provide unbiased information and support so you can make decisions that make sense for you and your family, and tap into the grit and grace needed to birth, nurture, and raise a human being. Heidi has also experienced the transformative power of becoming a parent, and will help you access your parenting intuition in the postpartum period, coordinate logistical support from your village, troubleshoot infant feeding and sleeping, and maximize your rest and recovery. She will help you move past survival mode to embrace the fourth trimester as an opportunity to focus on healing your body, tending to your mental health, nurturing your baby, and laughing at the ridiculously steep learning curve (cliff?!) of caring for a newborn.
Heidi is a former Peace Corps Volunteer (South Africa), a single parent by choice, and an amateur seamstress.
Jolan
Jolan Futaki is a Swiss trained midwife, full-spectrum doula, and mother of two who is dedicated to helping families feel confident and supported through pregnancy, birth, and the early weeks at home. She speaks English, German, and Hungarian, and brings a calm, steady presence to every stage of the journey.
As a birth doula, Jolan helps families prepare with evidence-based information, emotional support, and practical tools for labor and birth. She works collaboratively with partners and care teams to create a grounded, respectful, and empowering experience.
As a postpartum doula, she provides hands-on guidance with newborn care, feeding, and recovery - helping parents find rhythm, rest, and confidence in the transition to life with a new baby.
Jolan is currently working toward U.S. certification to complement her international midwifery background. Families describe her as calm, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to.
Kate
Kate (she/her/hers) is a certified Birth + Postpartum Doula, Integrative Lactation Feeding Specialist and a Childbirth Educator. She is absolutely honored that she gets to support and witness folks in this incredibly beautiful and vulnerable time. Kate's favorite part of birth work is that she is always learning something new! No two births or postpartum experiences are exactly alike and helping people navigate this precious time is so special.
She wants to meet people where they are and support their choices while providing evidence-based information and emphasizing respect and informed consent as crucial elements of the birthing journey. As a former bartender and improv comedian, she likes to bring joy to the birth space. As a mother of two herself, Kate knows just how important having the right connection is when it comes to your support team.
