Jane is a Certified Birth & Postpartum Doula and an Integrative Lactation & Feeding Specialist. She has also trained as a Comforting Touch practitioner with Yiska Obadia.

After entering her 30’s, and knowing that someday soon she wanted children of her own, Jane realized that birth had been hidden from view and that the prospect of giving birth felt only scary. Having now trained and supported families as a doula, she understands that birth is so much more than this for the people she works with. Jane believes that by being better prepared and supported, birthers don’t need to be afraid of birth, but can instead be open and ready for this bridge into parenthood. Jane also knows the importance of discussing, destigmatizing and supporting mental health challenges from her own experience with depression and anxiety. Holding space and helping her clients find the right professional support is one of the main tenets of her practice.

Jane has been in Brooklyn since 2012 and originally hails from Seattle, WA. Although she’s officially a “New Yorker” now, her West Coast roots are still integral to her values. When not supporting birthers, Jane can be found enjoying the beauty of Prospect Park or knitting and quilting in her Ditmas Park apartment where she lives with her husband, Jordan.

  • “As first time parents, with no family in the city, hiring Jane was the best decision we made in the lead up to giving birth. She is genuinely a kind and caring person, and will take the time to get to know you and gain your trust. I felt very comfortable having her in the delivery room and she tended to me during the entire induction. We discussed labour progression and she helped us feel comfortable with voicing our preferences to the medical team. I felt incredibly supported and cared for during labour and delivery, and my husband was also very much appreciative of her presence and the different techniques she used to help alleviate the pain. Jane is highly professional and reliable. If you're on the fence about getting a birth doula, do it, and hire Jane.”

  • “We interviewed four other doulas and we still felt more comfortable with Jane. Jane has a very West Coast chill vibe, and we liked that she was personable, down to earth and overall very calming. Making the birth plan [with Jane] made me feel less anxious about being railroaded in the delivery, which very much did not go to plan. In fact, literally every single thing I didn't want to happen (besides C-section), did happen. That is, I had to be induced, undergo a number of interventions, have an epidural, etc. And yet, I still had a positive birth experience because I was confident in my understanding and knew I had a great support team to back me up. And let's not underestimate the value of comfort. From making me feel comfortable advocating for myself as a patient, to trying to ease my extreme discomfort during labor, to prioritizing my comfort in healing postpartum, Jane not only put me first, but allayed any guilt I had in needing care.”
